Remebering September 11th

As we remembered last week in class on Cultural Thursday the events that took place on September 11th 2001 we are reminded of the lives that were lost as well as the unity that was displayed throughout the United States following this event.
Though most of you were 5 or 6 the day this happened, this moment in history will live forever and will never be forgotten. It is our generations pearl harbor.
There were a lot of questions that were raised about this day, and are still be raised today.
A lot of people were confused as to what was going on as well as who would let this happen.
Many people blamed this on God, and wondered how God could let something like this happen to innocent people. This is a good question.

So, what I want you to do is to respond to this question, or at least how would you respond to someone who would ask you this question today?

Maybe a friend lost a love one a tragic and expecting way, maybe friends are wondering why God let's bad things happen to good people. Whatever it may be, how would you answer someone when they ask you where God is? Why is He not stopping this?

Respond to these questions:

1) Why does God let bad things happen to good people?

2) Where is God in these events?

Happy reading and responding
*Mr. Read

i think God lets bad things happen to see how we react, if we stay with him.

God is always there. He is with us and is waiting for us to call on him.I think he will be there through thick and thin.

i think God lets bad things happen to good people because we live in a sinful world. Also to see if we believe in Him and so we can become closer to him.

I believe God lets bad things happen to good people to test our motives and to see if we really, truly rely on him for strength. Sometimes God lets bad things happen to good people because he loves them and wants them to grow in their spiritual relationship with Him.

Let me tell you a story.

"One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with God. In the sky above him scenes of his life flashed before him. He looked on the ground under the scenes and there were two sets of footprints, one his and one God's. When the last scene of his life flashed before him he looked back at the footprints in the sand. What he saw troubled him. Along the path of his life he noticed that there were only one set of footprints on some areas along the path. This bothered him for they were in the saddest and lowest parts of his life. He went and asked God about this and God merely smiled and said, "My precious, precious child, I love you dearly and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you can see only one set of footprints, it is then that I carried you"

This short story is the answer to our question. God loves us so much he would never forsake us. We tend to overlook the fact that God is always with us and tend to even (brace yourself) blame him. If only we could realize that God loves us and has a specific plan set out for us, then I think we truly understand where He is when the things get tough.

I think God lets bad things happen to good people, to test our faith so that we may grow closer to Him.

i htink god lets bad things happen to good people because, he wants to see how you'll react to the situation, and for you to learn from your mistakes. there's a saying that says there is only one way to learn, and that is from mistakes. he wants to see how you'll react, because he wants to have a choice. which one would you rather have, your parents say you can only eat healthy, or give you the choice of junk or healthy? yeah you'd be better off with the healthy food, but if you only had 1 choice it would make you unhappy. same thing with the choice. god only gives a choice because he loves you.

God lets bad things happen to us because he loves us. He tests us so we know that next time we are tempted, we know better.

I think that god gives us hard times in order to test our faith and to keep us in spiritual shape. It's just like how you need to workout in order to stay in shape. It's painfull, but the benefits are worth it.

Anonymous said...

I also agree with jamie b. God uses tough times to test us. I also like your story jamie, i thought it was very elaborate.

Anonymous said...

God lets this happen to good people bcause its his plan, and if u r a christian u will go to heaven of if u have jesus christ in your heart

Anonymous said...

I agree with jamie alot that he does that kind of stuff to test us and warn us so we dont do it again, ad so people that are not believers in christ might just go and found him

Anonymous said...

God is always around us he is ebery where we go, and has things happen because God has a plain for all of and will keep doing these things.

God is with you the whole time do not doubt him. he is there when you think he is not.

The reason God allows us to go through times of difficulty is to test our faith in Him. This world would be a pure fantasy if their was nothing to worry about. And if their was nothing to worry about, we wouldn't need God.

Therefore God puts us through hardships. Sometimes it may not seem like it, but it hurts God even more than it does you. How would you feel it someone you created was so sad, depressed, mad, or angry that they didn't feel like life was worth living.

So even though it seems God is sitting up in the clouds playing his golden harp with no worries, he feels all your pains. It says in Genesis that man was created in the image of God. God feels our pains too, we just don't know it sometimes.

I don't know what sasked means Lance... but I agree with you.

Dude people are thinking more and more how satan wants us to think. He wont stop untill we give up and surrendar.

God gives use the bible as a guide, life is a road and the bible is the map. Everyone makes wrong turns no matter who you are.

Most people have made a wrong turn or have fallen and they dont think they cant get any worse. And when they do they blame God, but God is always there calling you, you just have to answer.

God wants you to love Him even though what your going thorough.

If you think you dont sin that much, if you have to hide what your doing its usually not the right thing to be doing, but God sees all and He forgives if you let Him

Anonymous said...

hope u get better jamie, we all miss you man!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

He lets bad things happen to good people because everyone has sinned. Nobody is perfect and everyone needs to be tought a lesson.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Jackson and Josh that he will stay with us. Also he does things like 9/11 so that people come together and become closer to God.

Anonymous said...

i think that God is always everywhere no matter what and i think that He lets bad things happen because He can let something good come from it. just like noah and the ark it was horrible but God let noah survive and the earth started over and that was good. i also thinks He lets bad things happen so we can grow closer to Him. sometimes in tragedies we start to pray more and follow Him.

Anonymous said...

i agree with Jamie. i think God lets bad things happen to us to test our faith and see if we are truly following Him or just going through the motions.

Anonymous said...

AWESOME STORY JAMIE HOPE U GET BETTER!!!!!

He just does this to test our faith in him and Jesus Christ, if we blame it all on him he will know we dont have as much faith

Anonymous said...

God lets bad things happen to good people to show that He is still in control. He lets it happen...which still says He's in control. Does that make any sense?

Anonymous said...

I Think brandon bandy is right. God IS right there when we need Him.

Anonymous said...

Just like in "Evan Almighty", God lets bad things happen to good people because he wants to see if we will remain faithful to him.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Jackson. God wants to know if we really are comitted to him.

Anonymous said...

very well thought jackson i couldnt agree more

Anonymous said...

also God is there he'll always be there just call on him hes there

Anonymous said...

I think God lets bad things happen 2 good people 2 test their faith in Him. I think he wants 2 find out if they will keep the faith.

i agree w/ brandon bandy

Bad things happen to give us a challenge like
he did with Adam and Eve.

Drew Warren said...

God is there to show
us a lesson he wants us to
learn. However we often dont so sometimes he
punishes us in a way he deems right, to show us
that he really knows what hes talking about and that
he is really there.

Drew Warren said...

jackson really knows
what hes talking about,
it's hard to believe it
but God is there no matter
what just like jackson said

Anonymous said...

God isnt there for everything because he wants to test us to see if we will do what is right.

Anonymous said...

jacksons got it right.

Anonymous said...

i agree with jackson

Anonymous said...

and i think that God lets it happen because sometime we let our selves get out of hand and we let anger get to us what could really happen if we didnt could be good

Anonymous said...

God lets bad things happen to see if we are prepared and ready to react the right way

Anonymous said...

i agree with even

Anonymous said...

sorry i agree with EVAN

Anonymous said...

I think God lets bad things happen for many reasons, one of them could be he wants us to draw close and we have wandered so far from him he has to use devastating means.

I agree with Jackson Rodgers
