jo kadlecek definately laid it down about how teenagers have no idea why they like a movie, they just do. i like what he wants to happen in the future about the stuff like the reading a book out loud on the weekend with friends.i think people should go back to reading, maybe not all the time, but just read 1 book a year, in your free time, that isn't for a report.

I read "The rise of voyeur television"by steve rabey i thought he was talking about people wasting their time during the summer or any time to watch a stupid T.V. show that theyve seen 100 times. it talks about people watching "Oprah" or "Jerry Springer"it calls those shows"mass loquacity" which pretty much means people go on T.V. to blab on & on about all their problems...so people waste their day watching a tv show where someone just blabs on & on about how bad their life is

Anonymous said...

i read The Rise of Voyeur Television By Steve Rabey I definatly agrre with him how he says that people watse so much time watching stupid shows like big brother. i think that those shows have no point and dont even get why people like watching them. I also like wat he says about all of those shows like Dr. Phill. about how they go on and just fight, cuss and be stupid on tv.

Anonymous said...

I love what Steve Rabey said about people watching stupid T.V. shows like Survivor becuz they have people fight and cuss in them. They could be doing something much more productive than watching stupid shows but they dont.

I sort of agree with the guy who wrote Logos in the Hood. BUt some of the stuff like teens knowing more logos than houseplants, thats just dumb. I mean who cares. Its not really our fault logos are everywhere. You cant buy anything w/o seeing a logo. and is knowing the names of housplants reall important in the future at all? I dont mean to criticize too much but some of the stuff he writes is criticizing teens for stuff they cant control. And all of the rap music is bought buy white kids b/c the black kids preform it.

Anonymous said...

i agree with Zach Bross. Thats profound. All the movie stars do waste our time by playing tv shows where they complain about getting a mustang instead of a corvette, and the sad thing is that we watch it and enjoy it.

Robert K. Said

Detoxing from Hollywood was a good article because it gave a good point about how sometimes teens and adults can overload themselves with t.v. and movies. I think that we should take a little break from t.v. and spend more time with family instead of spending time with them watching t.v. Like playing a board game.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Robert,I think we should just chill about all the t.v and video games and like get some fun hobbies outside and play with friends and family. I think you can watch t.v and thing for little time but spend more time outside.

Anonymous said...

i read the rise of voyeur television by steven rabey. I like the way he spoke of the truth saying we spend too much media time in life. I think its better to spend time with God, family, and friends. We watch tv about 10 hours a week! I need to put an effort on spending more time with God.

Anonymous said...

i agree with zach bross. I think alot of tv shows are pretty stupid. I think its alot better to fucus on our life than to think about other people constantly.

Anonymous said...

i read the logos in the hood. i think that it made some very good points. one thing that really stuck out to me was when it asked about the brand. it asked what your favorite piece of clothing is, but if the logo on that piece is from kmart, would it be the same. for me it wouln't. i have a shirt that says aeropostale across the front. if that said walmart or kmart it would not even have bought it.

Anonymous said...

great comment samuel. i totally agree with everything u said about the plants and rap music. lol and btw good job on ur songs 2day.

Anonymous said...

The article that I chose to read was"Detoxing from Hollywood". Jo made ssome interesting comments on how we tend to get a little obsessed with what Hollywood throws out there, for no reason at all. It's not good for us, and there are alot more productive things to than watch that stuff.

Anonymous said...

Steven H. is right. We need to do other things rather than obsessing with this stuff all the time.

Anonymous said...

I red logos n the hood. i thught it was good. i no wat he means about noing over 1000 logos but its like impossible not 2 no logos. thare like everyware!!!! by the way i DO NOT watch the jerry Springer Show.

Anonymous said...

I read "The Rise of Voyeur Television" and I think he was talking about people who are lazy and stupid enough to watch anything on the T.V. just because it's there. The media world is completely focused on teenagers. What they want to watch and here. People who used to play outside all the time are now fat, lazy, and won't even play outside. I like what he said about Jerry S. and Oprah, when people go on T.V. and fight and talk about their feelings for what? I think it's just stupid how people turn their lives around watching stupid T.V. shows, JUST GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!!!!! All the shows are stupid and have NO point. All they show is people ruining there lives and embarres people. I think the media can effect our lives drammattically for no reason at all.

Anonymous said...

Zach Bross is 100% right!!! I agree Zach!!!

Anonymous said...

I read the "Rise of Voyeur Television by Steve Rabey." I agree with Zack Bross about just watching some show that they have seen like 700 times. I think that reality tv is overated. Only girls watch the tv shows like real world and survivor. I think that living in the wild isnt worth a million dollars. God can provide for all the things that you could buy for a million dollars.

Anonymous said...

when we watch a movie we always think oh it was good because movies are getting more bloody ever day so if we want a movie it always seems like a movie will take us in and not stop watching it. so many people look at movies and tv showsa for refrence that is getting annyoing

Anonymous said...

i think the media has a lot of power on teens. i dont watch the jerry springer show too.

Anonymous said...

also i think teens just watch movies so they can get an idea of what cool is, and just watch it to see things like drugs and sex and alchohal and murder. i think they just want to be cool and surround themselves in it.

Anonymous said...

Well About the one I read I really think they hit it spot on about how we just mindlessly watch TY shows for a while then others who are addicted or have nothing to do and watch it for hours. Shows as talked about on his sight on pointless except for seeing people do bad stuff sneaky stuff and even sexual stuff to win money, like Big Brother. Samuel Wohlschlaeger, I read The rise of Voyeur TV by Steve Rabey.

Anonymous said...

I read Detoxing From Hollywood. I think he is right. We need to spend less time watching tv and spend time with your family.

Anonymous said...

I like what steven h. wrote

Anonymous said...

ya i agree with Steven teens have no idea what there getting themselves into until it is to late and they have already fallen into the mediadgkallday

Anonymous said...

I love how steve rabey said that kids spend to mcuh time in the bedroom watching tv. I think that kids should watch less t.v. and play outside.

Anonymous said...

I read the article, "Detoxing from Hollywood," and found that she really knew what she was talking about. I wish people would stop supporting Hollywood and read more. America needs to read more. Think about how many books people would read if they read 5 chapters a week, for 1 year. That adds up to over 150 chapters a year! Another thing Youth groups should do is, like in the article said, have 1 night a week where sombody will read or tell a story.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Steven. Most teenagers don't know why they liked the movie. I think we should at least read 1 book a year, in our FREE time.

Anonymous said...

i agree with eli like steve rabey said they spend to much of there time wachin tv or playin video games ect. yeah i think that kids should go outside and play because if you get like no exercise thats bad and then you will get out of shape then they will be unhealthy.

Anonymous said...

i read logos in the hood.i thought it said some good things and made some good points.the best point the article made was logos.i think people buy name brand clothes and shoes to be accepted by the world.

Anonymous said...

I totally think that it is dumb how we all waste our time watching tv and
when we could be doing constructive stuff. I also think that movie stars have such a wasted life, wasting our lives just for money.

Anonymous said...

I also like what ethan said about how we buy our clothes mostly to fit in which is absolutely ridiculous

Anonymous said...

i agree with jackson rogers.i like how he said teenagers surround them selves with bad things just to be cool.

Anonymous said...

i read jo kadlecek's article and he is right when he said if you can even think if there was no tv or movies it just be such a shocker because we are so used to having those things its just natural to do that stuff and not read a book for your pleasure, its getting really bad.

Anonymous said...

steven you are right on, its true about the reading bookes and how we need to at least once a year

Anonymous said...

I read " the rise of voyeur television," and I agree with what it says. Media doesn't care what they put on television as long as it gets you to watch. Reality television is not real. Htye just put stuff in there to make it more interesting.

Chad T said...

i agree with steve rabey when he sais we spend too much time watching tv.i think jerry springer and shows like that are pointless because i dont want to watch people talk about there problems and get at each other.i think people who watch those shows waste their time.

Anonymous said...

I agree with James g. We need to limit how much time we watch television. Instead, we should be doing something that will benefit us.

Anonymous said...

i agree with Jo about doing a movie fast. i will not go for 6 months because no way will that work but i might consider a one or week fast from movies. i have also found that reading is almost the same as watching a movie ( if the book is good though).

Anonymous said...

i like the way you think andrew. way to say it strong.

I read Logos' from the Hood. There was some very interesting stuff in there. I have known this one point all along, but this only makes it clearer.

The only clothes that I wear to school are from Hollister or American Eagle. This is not actually resulted from media pressure, but more from peer pressure. When my parents ask me why I never wear any of my other clothes that aren't Hollister or American Eagle, I just say they are not cool.

My parents remark that they never wore name-brand clothes, and that they could buy 4 or 5 shirts for the price of 1 from Hollister or American Eagle.

Right now, and most likely forever, the American teen is obbessed with being cool. Boys strive for some form of respect, and girls for the compliments and gawking stares from boys.

It does not matter what it is, but I believe it is not the media that dictates what we buy, but our friends. If someone on TV has it, you don't really care because you have never met them and will probably never get to know them. On the flip side, if all your friends that you always hang out with get it, you feel left out and "uncool" and feel compelled to go and buy that something, whatever the price may be.

So do not get me wrong, the media does influence some decisions, I consider the much bigger influence to be your friends.

Anonymous said...

Preach it Andrew!!!!!!!! I like it: short, sweet, and to the point!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I read the logos in the hood article. I agree with it in saying that we can't all be like the average teen. I mean, drinking popular soda and wearing popular clothes isn't the problem, it's what your motives are. If your motives are to be just like everyone, you might wanna change that. Be unique, don't be a clone.

Anonymous said...

Nicely put Austin! I love what you said about teens just trying to be cool.

Anonymous said...

i read logos in the hood i think that t.v. can have a good outcome and you should make one choice toi watch a good television show every month

I READ THE RISE OF VOYEUR TV
I agree that it is really stupid wathcin shows like dr phil ,operah, and the jerry springer show i mean people just fight and tell about how terrible other people are and how terrible their life is.

i read the detoxing from hollywood it was interesting because it talks about how us teens watch to much tv and we should not get so hooked up the media and go outside and just hang out. meida today is so fake. they just get us hooked on the latest thing that we dont relieze what we are really watching.

Anonymous said...

austin i agree with you that we do like to wear A.E and holliter and all that stuff thats all i wear to boy. But man could u do me a favor and not write a 5 page essay on it lol just kidding nice bro nice. keep wearing that hollister and A.E

I read Detoxing from hollywood. I agree with Sam I. because we shouldn't waste all of our time watching tv and we should get out and do more productive things

The Rise of Voyeur Television- I just can't believe that everyone is getting sucked into T.V. this much in this world. God created many greater things to do than T.V., and not only are people getting sucked into bad T.V. shows that put bad images in out mind and bad words in out mind, and after a while, we start to use these bad words. I bet a lot of people watch T.V. at home on wednesday nights, when the could be at Church learning about the one who created that T.V. and everything else wonderful in this world.

Most people try and be the word everyone uses,"gangster". When someone trys to be liked a gangster your putting your own self in risk. These "gangsters" have been through so much more than you have been through. And no one soon learn about something in the wrong way. Most of these "gangsters" have been to jail and taking drugs, and try and tell you how bad or good it is though song.
Akon, thats a name everyone knows, and everyone knows his songs. But most do not know he has been to jail more than once and takes drugs like everyday. But most of you do know that he has a really bad mouth and doesnt treat females as they should be treated. I was just talking to m y mom today about the song "I Want To Love You" by Akon ft. Snoop dogg, and my mom listened to that song and after 30 seconds she made me turn it off. If thats one of Akons songs just think how much his life has been messed up and twisted.
Today when you turn on the T.V. all you see is someone trying to sell you something. Thats were we get the word "cool" from. We try and be as the celebrities today. All of us want to be rocker or gangster these days, but in Heaven there all no rockers that make there hair grow out to there feet, and there are no gangsters that wear gold in there mouths and wear there pants below tere waist. There is only you and God.

I read the detoxing from Hollywood and I did like that quote that zach h. sent. You don't have to think when you watch a movie, that is why a lot of us don't even know exactly why we liked a movie. It just makes us feel good, we don't watch it for a reason.

I read "logos in the hood"
unfortunalty some teens are pursuaded/manipulated by the media. They are making up stuff just to try and pursuade teens in a goodlooking way that will cause some teens to buy the product even if they didnt want to. The media builds peer pressure which gives them even more money because it makes other teens feel left out and they buy the stuff other people have. But by that time the media move on and switch items and makes other stuff look cool. I think the ads and other stuff are causing some teens to do things that shouldn't be done, but they do because the media makes it look cool.

i read "logoess in da hood". this author is a very awe inspiring influencial billboard. this document is completely right on the point of the filter and is a great disscussion starter for everybodies feelings/oppinions on the media today. the youth have the potential power to change this world wheather for good or for bad. the way the media is talking to this generation is almost like ya sin fine there's no real consiquences for your wrong acts but the truth is christ carried um on his own back. :-> this goes along with my person view of a filter.... a fullproof filter is not possible but the best way to keep yourself accountable is through your concience, yur parents/pastors,your good Christian friends, and of course our great teacher and the great philosopher, Jesus Christ. this view of mediA IS RIGHT ON THE "FASHION MONSTERS" OF TODAY EX. MTV, OR ANY FASHION CHANNEL. THE MEDIA IS CONSTANTLY poisoning our generations minds through addicting ,music, tv, and even books that are being publish by authors that seem to have no concience and are only doing it for $$$$$ this is totally disregarding there possible faith in thier creator God.all in all the filters that we as a Christian student body are consisting of our, our parent/pastors conciences also our accountability to our creator god as it says in II corinthians 5:10
"for we must all appear before the judgement seat of christ to recieve what is due him for things done while in the bodywheather good or bad"

I read "The Rise of Voyeur Television" by Steve Rabey. It was insane how he totally nailed all of us, right on the spot. He explained how we waste all our time watching stupid shows that don't mean anything(Big Brother). He also mentioned the shows like Jerry Springer and Dr. Phil where people just go on and fight with each other.

I agree with Zack Bross.

Christopher G. (Topher) said...

I have read The Rise of Voyeur Television and I believe that people whatch thes shows because they think its funny to watch people who obviously aren't prepared to do whatever there doing, go hysterical on camera, or have a nervous breakdown and go through some or all of the four letter explettives they know on live television wether they know it or not. But there are some shows like Survivor that I believe people like because it shows someone who survives in a place most of the viewers will never go in situations most viwers will never see and this is why I believe these shows are so popular. But I also see the necessity to pull your eyes from the collection of pixels and soundwaves that makes up what you will probably hear and see for the next 30 to 60 minutes and look at the world around you. I know it might be hard to grasp for those who believe that the world abruptly stops at the backdoor but if you twist that wonderful invention called a knob it opens that door and reveals a world much better than sometihng in a videogame and maybe something you might recognize its called fresh air and NATURE.
